About Speranza Gonzalez<\/h1>

Speranza Gonzalez, MSW, ASW, is a social worker dedicated to strengthening children, families, and communities through compassionate, trauma-informed, and advocacy-driven practice. She earned her Master of Social Work from Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, California, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of San Francisco.<\/p>

Drawing from both professional experience and lived experience within the foster care system, Speranza brings a unique perspective to her work. Having navigated complex systems firsthand, she understands the importance of advocacy, clear communication, and creating supportive environments where individuals and families feel respected, heard, and empowered.<\/p>

Her career has centered on child welfare, crisis intervention, and family services. As a former Child Welfare Worker with Alameda County, Speranza partnered with families navigating reunification, permanency planning, and complex service systems. This experience strengthened her ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, understand court-involved cases, and support families through challenging transitions.<\/p>

Supervised Visitation Services<\/h3>

Speranza’s supervised visitation experience is built upon her leadership as the Supervisor of a county-contracted visitation center serving families involved in the child welfare system. In this role, she coordinated supervised visits, supported visitation staff, collaborated with county social workers and service providers, and ensured that visits remained safe, structured, and child-focused. Her approach emphasizes objective observation, accurate documentation, professionalism, and fostering meaningful parent-child interactions that support reunification whenever appropriate.<\/p>

Crisis Intervention & Family Support<\/h3>

In addition to child welfare, Speranza has extensive experience providing crisis intervention services to individuals and families experiencing behavioral health emergencies. As a Suicide Crisis Counselor and Lead Crisis Intervention Specialist within a Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT), she provided compassionate support during high-risk situations, conducted risk assessments, de-escalated crises, collaborated with first responders and community providers, and connected individuals with appropriate resources. These experiences strengthened her ability to remain calm under pressure, build trust quickly, and navigate complex situations with professionalism and empathy.<\/p>

Career Development & Resume Services<\/h3>

Speranza is also the founder of Next Step Career Coaching, where she helps students, recent graduates, and professionals confidently navigate today’s job market. Through resume development, interview preparation, career strategy, and professional branding, she empowers individuals to communicate their strengths and successfully pursue meaningful career opportunities. Her own experience navigating higher education, public service, and professional advancement informs a practical, personalized coaching approach designed to help others reach their goals.<\/p>
